Salem Witch Trials
I walk thse same floors of my house everyday, but today something felt different. As I look into the eyes of the little girl in the corner, she instantly started yelling and runing around the room flapping her arms. I was very concerned at the sight of this because i didnt know what was going on. Am i a witch? i have never felt like a witch before, what should i do? Why would i have this effect on someone? Before i know it everyone in town is yelling "Witch, Witch". The leaders of the town all ran to me, tied me up and took me to prison. I sat with the other accused witches as we all awaited trial. I heard their stories of their experiences. Many of the other women that waited with me in prison also thought that they were innocent. I waited my turn until they came to get me and i got my chance to plee my case. I knew my life depended on wether i said i was guilty or innocnet. I thought long and hard about what i would plee. Should i say that i am guilty and maybe make it out of this? Or should i say that i am innocent because i know i am? I make my way to the town court. Everyone in town is around watching my trial like i was an exibit at the zoo. As soon as i say im innocent the entire population gets angred because they are set on me being a wicth. They begin to throw rocks and me and chant that i am a witch. What have i done to deserve this? I have been a respected member of this communtity for years. And now the people i set with in church are throwing rocks at me. After the trial is over i have been sentenced to execusion. I proudly take my punishedment because i now that i am innocent. I know that i am not a witch so my spirt will forever live on.

Reflection on Quater 1
I think that I have grown a lot as a reader. I now know how to understand what I am reading instead of just skimming through it. The reading journal has made me learn new things. Before I did the reading journal this quarter I didn’t know anything about connections or layer questions. All of the writing I did this quarter has made me into a better writer. I use better verbs, like mussel verbs. I also learned how to write without actually writing about my writing. I learned how to write by showing not telling the story. Next quarter I think I should work on how to make my stories flow better. Before this quarter I wasn’t very advanced in technology but now I know how to blog. This quarter I have also learned how to work well in a group. We did many group activities this quarter including two literature circles. Next quarter I hope to do better in the reading department. I have read a pretty good number of books but I would like to do better next quarter.

Lit Circle 9/25
In our lit circle we related our book to all the other books we have read. I think the book reminds me of the book Holes because he was in a detention center. It was alot like Holes because in Holes he was allowed to watch tv and still socialize but he was still in a jail setting. we also related the touching spirt bear to the book hatchet in hatchet he had to survive on his own and learn how to respect and value his life. We also talked about what we thought was going to happen later in the book.

Text to World Connection
Kids all over the world stress about the ACT. The ACT is made up of multiple choice questions that cover areas such as, English, Math, Reading and Science. Most high school students who plan on going to college take the ACT. In the book “Shattering Glass”, by showing many of the student’s thoughts toward the test, it demonstrates how stressful it really is.
In the book it shows and example of a boy who is completely frazzled out about the ACT. He has to make at least an 18 to get a sports scholarship he needs to be accepted into college. He gets extremely worried about the outcome of the test. It also points out that one character in the book, Ronna, who had to go home early, and miss out on hanging out with her friends, to get a good night sleep.
The ACT is a test made to demonstrate the knowledge level of high school students. Unfortunately, the college future of a student could solely depend on the scores of this test. And just like the characters in the book, many young adults strain about the scores of this test. Other than the fact that tests can be very nerve-racking, many people freeze up when they take test. All in all, I don’t think that the outcome of your future should depend on a test.
