Kids all over the world stress about the ACT. The ACT is made up of multiple choice questions that cover areas such as, English, Math, Reading and Science. Most high school students who plan on going to college take the ACT. In the book “Shattering Glass”, by showing many of the student’s thoughts toward the test, it demonstrates how stressful it really is.
In the book it shows and example of a boy who is completely frazzled out about the ACT. He has to make at least an 18 to get a sports scholarship he needs to be accepted into college. He gets extremely worried about the outcome of the test. It also points out that one character in the book, Ronna, who had to go home early, and miss out on hanging out with her friends, to get a good night sleep.
The ACT is a test made to demonstrate the knowledge level of high school students. Unfortunately, the college future of a student could solely depend on the scores of this test. And just like the characters in the book, many young adults strain about the scores of this test. Other than the fact that tests can be very nerve-racking, many people freeze up when they take test. All in all, I don’t think that the outcome of your future should depend on a test.

Wow..go Hallie. I agree with everything about that little story you typed hehe and yes some people do freeze up on test and completly bomb them when in reality they are really smart they just are bad at taking test. I agree that what you make on one test shouldn't decide where you go to college or what your going to do for rest of your life. Even though you can take that test and completly nail it!!! whoo whoo go hal!!
hallie when did you get so smart?! lol i loved ur blog it was really good and completely true! i personally agree with you and the book in the fact that your entire future shouldnt ride soley on one stupid highschool test! thats rediculous! but good job on the blog babe! luv you!
I completely agree with your blog. One test should not determine whether or not you are able to attend a college. You could be a wonderful student but a horrible test taker! Good job!
Did you know a study was recently released questioning the validity of the ACT and SAT to determine college success? Many schools have stopped requiring the ACT and/or SAT. Many are calling for a new kind of test--one that would allow students to demonstrate what they've learned in high school, one that doesn't require one type of thinking (left-brained). So, apparently several "experts" agree with you!
